Special Winter Offer in Loddon Valley
Published on 20 June 2016
Leave the togs at home and discover why Bridgewater could be just the place for a reinvigorating winter break.
The town is well known for its water sports options on the Loddon River, but there are other pleasant distractions on hand which will keep tourists warm and dry.
Loddon Shire is providing an added incentive for people to visit with a special deal on family accommodation at its new caravan and camping park from 1 July to 31 August.
Patrons booking for two nights can stay a third night free, while the site’s two-bedroom cabin can be hired with a discount of 10% off the usual fee.
The park offers 98 large caravan sites and 17 tent sites, a fully equipped camp kitchen, a covered eating area overlooking the river, barbecues, children’s play area and a walking path along the foreshore to the town centre.
The highly popular Bridgewater Bakehouse supplies coffee, cakes and pies or eat out at the art deco Loddon Bridge Hotel.
Council’s tourism marketing officer, Robyn Vella, said other attractions in and around the town included golf and bowls clubs, sky diving, antiques and collectables stores and wine tasting at Water Wheel Vineyards.
“Melville Caves reserve is not far away and you’re close to the huge Kooyoora State Park,” Mrs Vella said.
“Inglewood, too, is only a short distance off, with its gold rush architecture, collectables and antiques stores, heritage buildings tagged with their distinctive blue plaques and the famed Blue Eucy Museum.”
