What better way to explore the waterways of the Loddon Shire than right in the middle of it all – standing on a paddleboard!

Saturday 19 October is a chance for beginners to learn all there is to know about the sport at Little Lake Boort.

Lola Makar from Still Water Paddleboards says that other than being over the age of 12, there is no other requirement necessary.

“It’s a great introductory session,” Lola explains. “It’s a full hour and a half lesson and an excellent way to get a safe and thorough introduction to the sport. Everyone who has a go loves it. It’s a really good workout and lots of fun. It’s designed for beginners and we will ensure everyone leaves knowing how to paddle and be stable on their feet.”

If you find the beginner’s class a great success, or you’re already a keen paddleboarder, a tour of the beautiful Loddon River will run on Saturday 2 November.

“We paddle along the Loddon River to the Serpentine Weir,” Lola says. “It’s a really pretty paddle, extremely peaceful and very picturesque. It’s such a lovely and calm stretch of water and a wonderful way to take in the local scenery from a truly unique angle.”

All equipment is provided on both days and bookings are essential as places are limited. The Loddon River Tour is $75 and also includes a snack. The Loddon River Tour is limited to 16 paddlers and participants must have paddleboarding experience. Both events are available for people aged 12 and up.
