Rural Councils Victoria media release - Competition supports rural innovation
Published on 08 March 2018
Rural Councils Victoria has launched its Community Innovators Competition, aimed at highlighting the special and creative work that rural Victorians are already doing in their communities.
RCV Chairman Cr Rob Gersch said that the competition had four categories – road safety, library and literacy services, fire safety and saving energy.
“Whether it’s a librarian trying new ways to reach communities in remote locations, a school principal creating a smarter way to teach students about road safety, or a farmer developing a better system for fire prevention, we want to hear about what you’re doing to work smarter in rural Victoria,” Cr Gersch said.
“The winner in each category will win $1000 to be spent on expanding the project or program for which they were successful.
“We are planning to announce the winners at our Rural Summit, this year being held at Lakes Entrance on 16 to 17 May 2018."
People wishing to nominate themselves or someone they think is worthy can download the entry form at ruralcouncilsvictoria.org.au/competitions.
Entrants must be a resident or employee of one of Rural Councils Victoria member council, a list of which is available on the website.
