Unearth the undiscovered and the untouched

On Wednesday 2 October the Visit Loddon Valley Facebook page and Instagram were officially launched; officially propelling the Loddon Valley into the 21st Century.

The Visit Loddon Valley Facebook page was officially launched by the Mayor, Councillor Cheryl McKinnon, before a gathering of over seventy local businesses and stakeholders in Inglewood. She remarked that Facebook is used by over 1.5 billion users every day and this number continues to rise. It is still the number one choice for social media amongst 25 to 49 year-old demographic.

Although the Loddon Shire has had a Facebook page for a number of years, a dedicated visitors’ page will ensure that those planning a trip or looking for tourism information will have everything they need at their fingertips. This will also offer an exclusive vehicle to showcase the region.

In the same way, the Loddon Shire is excited to become part of the Instagram world with the launch of Visit Loddon Valley Instagram. As the second most used social media platform for Gen Z after Snapchat, Instagram is a great way to strengthen the Loddon Shire’s commitment to include young people in programs that are relevant and engaging.

Cr McKinnon said “these social media initiatives are designed to grow Loddon Valley’s presence across digital platforms, at the same time demonstrating what the Loddon Valley has to offer the younger demographic.”

As well as Facebook and Instagram, the Mayor also launched the 2019 Loddon Valley Official Visitor Guide. This key destination brochure is designed to entice potential visitors to consider the Loddon Valley region for their next holiday and help them find itinerary options, seasonal events and key tourism experiences.

The publication is divided into three sections: features, localities and information. It highlights Loddon Valley’s points of difference including undiscovered villages, untouched wilderness and rivers and natural beauty to be unearthed.

The Visitor Guide promotes 41 local operators who advertise in the guide. They will benefit from the targeted exposure that the guide is expected to bring and have helped identify and highlight the region’s many assets. This marketing venture will advance their businesses while supporting the region’s future growth.

Cr McKinnon said “the partnership of the Loddon Valley Official Visitor Guide, Facebook and Instagram will strengthen bonds between operators and in turn will increase overnight stays and visitors to the region.”

Copies of the Visitor Guide are available from Visitor Information Centres, participating businesses and the Loddon Shire offices in Wedderburn and Serpentine.
