New home for park manager

Work is about to start on a new manager’s residence at the Council-owned Wedderburn Caravan Park, with the necessary permit process close to completion.

A contract has been awarded to New Trend Transportable Homes, of Shepparton, to build and install a nine-square, two-bedroom timber home on the site early in the new year.

Project manager Adrian Lowrey said this week Council had set aside $120,000 for the work and the task would be accomplished within budget.

“This has been in Council’s mind for quite a while,” Mr Lowrey said.

“The present residence there was built in the 1970s and really needs replacing – it’s well past its use-by date.

“The new house will be built at New Trend’s premises in Shepparton and brought to Wedderburn to be assembled adjacent to the current home.

“Council officers are in the final stages of approving the building permit and New Trend will start work on the construction within two weeks of that being granted.

“We would expect the new residence will be in place at the park six to seven weeks after that.

“A separate contract has been awarded to Hickman’s Pty Ltd, of Bendigo, to remove trees along the entrance to the caravan park and this is expected to be done around mid-January.”
