Tens of thousands of holiday-makers will pour into Melbourne’s Ascot Vale Showgrounds this month – and Loddon Shire will be a highly visible presence.

The Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Super Show, planned for 22-27 February, will celebrate the joys of travel and the outdoors with information sessions, vintage cars and vans, fine food and wine, family entertainment and a host of displays from caravan and motorhome manufacturers, camping equipment suppliers and travel destinations.

Council has teamed with Boort district business couple Ian and Marilyn Lanyon, from Aussie Wool Quilts/Simply Tomatoes at Yando, to man a site at the event and offer information to visitors on visitor options around the Shire.

Tourism and Marketing Officer Robyn Vella will host four 60-minute sessions in the show’s Outback Seminar Dome promoting opportunities for short breaks in the Loddon Valley.

Mrs Vella will focus on the area’s caravan parks, RV-Friendly destinations, varied tourist drawcards, lively events calendar and undiscovered villages, as well as highlighting the Shire’s multi-faceted natural attractions for families and younger people.

The Super Show has operated for over 60 years and last year enticed more than 50,000 visitors through the gates.

This year’s event features displays from 490 exhibitors and a program that includes travelling fishing show the Berkley Supertank, live music, information sessions and cooking demonstrations on the Walkabout Stage, whip cracker Nathan Griggs and children’s entertainment through free rides, face painting, movies and more.

Mrs Vella’s seminars are part of the schedule at the Outback Seminar Dome, which will also canvass such wide-ranging topics as safer towing, starting metal detecting, 4X4 touring in Africa, satellite TV reception and travelling with children.

Loddon Valley’s representatives will be found at site 352.
