Donaldson Park Community Hub works

Having mentioned last week about the awarding of Stage 1 construction of the Donaldson Park Community Hub project, it’s great to see progress continue at the site, with demolition works underway.

The grandstand, toilet block, harness racing judge’s tower, tote building and harness racing pavilion are being demolished to make way for the new Community Hub building, car park and landscaping.

Construction works on the new contemporary community hub are due to start next month.

The Donaldson Park Community Hub project has been made possible thanks to funding from the Commonwealth Government, Victorian Government, Donaldson Park Committee of Management, user groups, the community, Inglewood & Districts Community Enterprises Limited and Council.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge the Donaldson Park Steering Committee for their input throughout the course of this project, including the building’s design.

Pyramid Hill Streetscape Revitalisation Project

It’s also fantastic to see works continuing on the $1.58 million Pyramid Hill Streetscape Revitalisation Project.

The Pyramid Hill Streetscape Revitalisation Project aims to unify the township via themed works along the town approaches and pedestrian navigation. It will achieve this by improving pedestrian safety, linking key public spaces and providing additional landscaping and shade.

The project is being funded through the Victorian Government’s Building Works package as well as Council.

Take heart matters into your hands

The Buloke Loddon Gannawarra Health and Wellbeing Executive Network (BLG) is urging people to take heart matters into their own hands.

With heart disease one of the biggest health issues in the Buloke, Loddon and Gannawarra Shires, BLG is encouraging people to know their risk factors for heart disease and seek further assistance from their local GP if they have a number of risk factors.

Risk factors include age, gender, family history, ethnic background, smoking status, physical inactivity, diabetes, unhealthy diet, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and depression and social isolation.

If you are 35 to 75 years, complete the Heart Foundation’s online Heart Age Calculator and make lifestyle modifications or seek professional help if necessary.

If you have multiple risk factors, see a GP for a Heart Health Check. GP Heart Health Checks are 20-minute cardiovascular disease risk assessments, which can be claimed from Medicare.

For more information regarding Heart Health contact Northern District Community Health on (03) 5451 0200 or visit your local GP for a Heart Health Check.

Have your say – proposed metropolitan and regional parks regulations

The Victorian Government is asking people to have their say regarding proposed metropolitan and regional parks regulations.

As per the consultation paper, regional parks in the Loddon Mallee region to be included in the proposed regulations include the Bendigo Regional Park and Kerang Regional Park.

Visit the Engage Victoria website to find out more and to provide your feedback.

Please make sure you take the time to read the consultation paper and the frequently asked questions on the website about the proposed regulations, and what they may mean for these parks.

Feedback closes 22 August 2022.

Bendigo Health Carer Support Services

Bendigo Health’s Carer Support Services helps carers with support to remain in their caring role by assisting with respite, referrals and provision of information about community care, aged care, disability and other related services.
