Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Boort
Last Thursday (2 June) I had the honour of attending a local celebration for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at Nolen’s Park in Boort, along with Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh, MP, fellow Councillor Neil Beattie and Council CEO Lincoln Fitzgerald.
Hosted by Boort Tourism and Development Committee, and with a great crowd in attendance, the event included the planting of a new tree and unveiling of a commemorative plaque in honour of the Queen for her dedication and service during the past 70 years. A community barbecue rounded off this special community celebration.
On behalf of Council, I’d like to thank the Boort Tourism and Development Committee, along with students from Boort District School, and all the volunteers and everyone involved that made this celebration possible.
The event was a fantastic way for the Boort and wider community to come together to acknowledge this very special occasion.
