Healthy Heart of Victoria projects in Loddon
The Healthy Heart of Victoria initiative has announced a number of new projects to help increase levels of healthy eating and physical activity across the Loddon Campaspe Region, including Loddon Shire, over the next six months.
Projects in Loddon Shire include hydration stations in three locations, activation sessions at Boort, Pyramid Hill and Wedderburn outdoor fitness equipment, wayfinding and instructional signage along Wedderburn’s Nardoo Trail and installation of outdoor fitness equipment in Inglewood, as well as Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food online cooking course, which will be held region-wide.
Further updates and information will be provided as projects are underway.
Healthy Heart of Victoria aims to improve health in the region by providing opportunities and creating spaces for residents to be more active and to eat well.
The initiative spans six Local Government Areas including Loddon Shire, as well as City of Greater Bendigo, Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander shires.
Startup Central Victoria – online event
Startup Central Victoria will be hosting a free online conversation with entrepreneur Maryann Thexton who will share her journey of creating a new company and product.
Maryann is Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Bio-Az (a subsidiary of The Marl Group Corporation), winner of the 2021 Nutra Ingredients Asia Startup Award. The company’s first product, Biotica water, has just entered commercial production phase.
As she prepares to launch their first product to the world, Maryann will share some of the learnings from her startup journey that has taken many twists and turns along the way.
The online event will take place from 7pm to 8pm on Wednesday 16 February 2022.

VFF Making Our Farms Safer project
The Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) recently launched a dedicated website to complement its Making Our Farms Safer project.
The Making Our Farms Safer website aims to be a one-stop information hub for farm safety information.
The Making Our Farms Safer project itself, which was launched in April 2020, provides dedicated safety specialists offering support, up-skilling and guidance to all Victorian Farmers.
It is delivered through the provision of farm visits, community meetings, a monthly newsletter and a toolkit of handbooks and resources to assist and educate farmers on implementing and maintaining safety on their farms.

The Making Our Farms Safer team is also committed to improving child farm safety, and have established a Child Safety on Farm Steering Committee to lead the industry and address this issue.

ABARES Outlook 2022 online conference
The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) will be holding its Outlook 2022 conference online from Tuesday 1 March to Friday 4 March.
This free annual Outlook conference will explore Growing agriculture through innovation and sustainability and will include three, one-hour sessions over the four days, covering significant trends and issues for the agriculture sector. The event will feature speakers who are industry leaders and experts from across Australia and internationally.
Sessions will include Global and national context, Drought resilient farms, Benefits of water trade in the Murray-Darling Basin, the future of biosecurity, Diary – the future of milk pricing and marketing, and more.
