Councillor Dan Straub has been elected as the Loddon Shire Mayor during a Special Council Meeting on 19 November 2024.

Cr Straub, who is the Councillor for Terrick Ward, said he was delighted to be elected to the role.

“I’d like to thank my fellow Councillors for electing me as Mayor – it is a great honour,” Cr Straub said.

Loddon Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Lincoln Fitzgerald congratulated Councillors on their swearing in.

“I congratulate our new and returning Councillors, and together with Loddon Shire staff, look forward to working with our new Council,” Mr Fitzgerald said.

“I would like to thank all candidates who stood in the 2024 elections for their dedication to their respective communities by putting themselves forward for election.

“I’d also like to acknowledge and thank Wendy Murphy and Linda Jungwirth for their contributions and services as Councillors for the past term,” Mr Fitzgerald added.

Mr Fitzgerald also paid tribute to outgoing Boort Ward Councillor Neil Beattie, who chose not to contest this year’s election. Mr Beattie was elected to Loddon Shire Council in 2005.

“On behalf of the Loddon Shire Executive Team and staff, I thank Neil for his selfless dedication and service to Council and his community during the past 19 years,” he said.

“As well as a Councillor for nearly two decades, Neil served three terms as Mayor and was recognised with an MAV Mayor Emeritus Award in 2022.

“It has been an honour to work with Neil and we wish him all the best for the future.”
