Loddon Shire Council has appointed a Bendigo woman with a wealth of local government experience as acting chief executive officer.

The appointment has been made following the recent resignation of John McLinden who recently accepted a position as chief executive officer of Swan Hill Rural City Council.

Loddon Shire Council Mayor Neil Beattie said the decision to offer Marg the position was made at Council’s February meeting earlier this week.

“We’re delighted she has accepted the leadership role and she will begin her duties here at Loddon on Tuesday 15 March,” Cr Beattie said.

“Marg has been involved in local government in our corner of the state for many years, and was formerly a highly respected director of corporate services with City of Greater Bendigo.

“There’s no doubt Marg will be an asset to Loddon Shire over the coming months as Council takes its time in appointing a strong and stable leader to fill the permanent CEO role.”

Marg said she was excited at the prospect of working with Loddon Shire Councillors, communities and staff.

“I’m looking forward to joining the team at Loddon on an election year, when there are so many major projects underway within the municipality, including the pipeline and streetscape redevelopment projects.

“I always knew I wanted to work in local government and have had the privilege of doing so for more than 30 years now.

“A large percentage of that time has been spent in central and northern Victoria and I’ve heard about so many positive things happening at Loddon Shire, so it’s a privilege to have been offered this opportunity.”

Before embarking on her career in local government, Marg completed a Bachelor Business (Local Government) and went on to attain a post graduate qualification in public policy and governance.

“I have a passion for local government and providing the best possible service for our communities and I’m excited to see how we plan and deliver that service here in Loddon.”
