Historical Engines on Show - Vintage Machinery Rally
Published on 22 August 2019
WHEN: Saturday 7 September to Sunday 8 September
WHERE: Engine Park, Racecourse Road Wedderburn
The second weekend in September is full of action for families, or for enthusiasts, with the annual Wedderburn Vintage Machine Rally. With old engines, farm machinery and many items of yesteryear on display, this year will feature Ruston Hornsby Products and 32 Volt lighting plants.
Trevor Bailey, President of the Machine Rally, says the event is always an enjoyable one. “We are coming up on 30 years,” he says. “This is the 29th year and it’s always a really good weekend.”
“We’ve got two big stationary engines – one was once the powerhouse engine for Wedderburn and there are over 160 exhibitors attending from all over Victoria and South Australia, so there’s plenty to see.”
Opening at 9am both mornings over the weekend, Trevor explains that the Saturday event will run into the evening with the day finishing at 10pm. “There are some old farm engines and it’s great when they charge their batteries and then fire up their lights after dark. We always have a big bonfire going too, which is especially good if the evening is cooler.”
The Vintage Machinery Rally is fully catered with pies, pasties, BBQ, cakes and hot dogs, and the local ladies also organise a quilting display in the old school building on the site. Additional market stalls and entertainment ensures it’s a real family day out.
For those attending the event, entry is $5 for adults and free for children.
