Declaration of Boating Activity Exemption for Loddon River - 23-24 January 2016

I, Darren Schultz, Building & Contracts Officer, of Loddon Shire Council, waterway manager for the Loddon River (at Bridgewater between Flour Mill Weir and Sweeney’s Lane), declare under section 203(3) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic) that the 2016 Australian Masters Tournament Water Ski Championships on 23 and 24 January 2016, is exempt from:

  1. The requirements of clause 62.2 (in relation to the 5 knot speed restricted area between the exclusive use and special purpose areas detailed in clauses 62.6 and 62.7).
  2. The requirements of clause 62.7 (in relation to the operating rules for exclusive use & special purpose area) of Schedule 62 of the Notice under section 15(2) of the Marine Act 1988.
  3. The requirements of Regulations 103 and 104(2) of the Marine Safety Regulations 2012, in respect to persons being towed by a vessel to wear a PFD and masters of recreational vessels must not tow a person unless the person is wearing a PFD. This exemption applies to trick skiers only.

This declaration applies to registered participants of the 2016 Australian Masters Tournament Water Ski Championships from 7.30am to 7.00pm on 23 and 24 January 2016 on the waters of the Loddon River in the gazetted Exclusive Use and Special Purpose Area detailed in clause 62.7 of Schedule 62 (waterway rules for the Loddon River at Bridgewater), provided that all vessel occupants are wearing a PFD and that the stated safety controls and undertakings detailed in the Event Application and associated documentation are adhered to.
