Cr Holt

I wish to express the support of my Council and myself for Councillor Gavan Holt. Councillor Holt has been an excellent councillor for the Loddon Shire. He has given tireless service to this community for the past 12 years as a councillor and for many more years in other community roles. He was recently involved in a traffic accident and made a serious mistake. He has now been dealt with by the authorities as any other member of the public would be. Councillor Holt has made a public statement in respect of the circumstances surrounding his traffic accident and has made a full apology.

I recognise that, as public figures, councillors are held to a higher standard of behaviour than the general public. It is for this reason that Councillor Holt has paid a particularly heavy price for his mistakes of 27 October 2015. With the matter having now been dealt with by the authorities, I do not propose to make any further public statement on this matter, and I do not expect that Council will take any further action.

The Loddon Shire is a strong team and will continue to support Councillor Holt both professionally and personally. I look forward to working with Councillor Holt and the entire Council team to continue to serve the Loddon community.
