Residents in Loddon Shire Council have rated Council’s overall performance and its advocacy as higher than both the state-wide average and the small rural council average.

Council’s overall performance rose from a score of 58 last year to a score of 61 this year. This score is higher than the state-wide average of 58 and the average for small rural councils of 56.

With a score of 57, Council’s lobbying on behalf of the community is higher than the state-wide average (score of 53) and higher than the average for small rural councils (score of 52).

Council also performed significantly higher than the state-wide overage and the small rural council average on community decisions and waste management.

The survey, conducted by JWS Research, collected responses from 400 residents in Loddon on a range of council services.

The top five performing areas according to residents are appearance of public areas (score of 72), recreational facilities and waste management (score of 70 and 69 respectively).

Loddon’s CEO, Phil Pinyon said that “the survey also revealed that more work needs to be done to improve residents’ perceptions of the condition of its roads, both unsealed (score of 44) and sealed (score of 47).” Mr Pinyon went on to say that there is anecdotal evidence that some members of the community may not realise the difference between local roads and those managed by the State, which may have distorted our sealed local roads rating.  A full list of Loddon Shire roads, including those managed by Council and those managed by the Victorian State Government can be found on Council’s website at https://www.loddon.vic.gov.au/Our-Services/Footpaths-roads-and-drains/Roads
