Community house taking shape

Work on the new extension at the Wedderburn Community House is well under way and staff will soon begin planning their move into the building.

When that happens, contractors will start renovations in the existing section.

Roofing, external cladding and windows in the extension are all now complete, as is the preparatory work of structural steelwork, framing and flooring.
 
The “rough-in” work for all services is finished, including sewerage, water, electricity, communications and mechanical services.

Internal plastering is almost complete and the painting of some rooms has begun.  Architraves and skirting have been fixed to many areas and lighting is now being installed in some rooms.

External work on ramps at the front and rear of the extension are well under way and earthworks have started for car parking and landscaping in the immediate vicinity of the extension.

Some joinery and some internal doors are in and wiring for the new security system is almost complete.

Work due to start within the next two to three weeks will see the remaining joinery ordered and a security system installed.

Options for a photovoltaic system are currently being sought and quotations for roof insulation in the existing building are being considered.
