Community Asset Committee members are invited to come along to a range of free local information events to be held across Loddon Shire for National Volunteer Week from Monday 17 May until Friday 21 May.
Community Asset Committees consist of dedicated community members and have been created to manage facilities within the Loddon Shire in accordance with Section 65 of the Victorian Local Government Act 2020.
Mayor Neil Beattie, who will launch National Volunteer Week in the Loddon Shire, said Council highly valued the contribution of Community Asset Committees.
“Our Community Asset Committee members do an outstanding job. Their contribution, through the volunteering of their time, and their dedication and passion enrich our community,” Cr Beattie said.
Cr Beattie encouraged committee members to attend events planned for National Volunteers Week, adding it would provide valuable information for every committee member.
“Each information event session is aimed at a different committee position,” Cr Beattie said.
“For example, the first event will be a workshop around Governance and Dispute Resolution, and is for Chairs and Secretaries.
“Other information events are aimed towards Deputy Chairs, Treasurers, Booking Officers, Volunteer Officers and Media Officers.
“I encourage our Community Asset Committee members to go along to these sessions and gain some valuable information for their committees,” Cr Beattie added.
The first event in the series, Governance and Dispute Resolution with the Bendigo Volunteer Resource Centre will be held on Monday 17 May from 10.30am until 1.30pm at the Boort Memorial Hall. A light lunch will be included.
