Bridgewater on Loddon River Precinct Celebration
Published on 11 December 2019
The Bridgewater on Loddon community will celebrate the culmination of months of work and planning when stage one of the Foreshore Precinct is acknowledged on Thursday 19 December at 5.30pm, with a barbeque and Bridgewater Carols featuring the children of Bridgewater Primary School.
The works include the installation of a water access point, solar bollards, seating, shade structures and picnic facilities along the length of the walking track and also features irrigated turf, location signs and landscaping. Together they ensure that the Bridgewater foreshore is an easily accessible and maintainable recreation space for locals and visitors to enjoy.
We are delighted that the Minister can join us for the official formal launch in February. The event organised for Thursday afternoon at Bridgewater will now be a great opportunity for Council and the community to come together to mark the completion of Stage 1 of the works and celebrate Christmas.
Loddon Shire Mayor, Cheryl McKinnon, who will be present on Thursday, said “after considerable community consultation, we have created an area along the foreshore that will be a gathering point for community and visitors looking to enjoy the Loddon River”.
It is anticipated that the development of the Foreshore Precinct will drive economic growth by encouraging more visitors to stop, stay and play in the area while enjoying the natural beauty of the Loddon River and making the most of its potential as a venue for water sport and informal recreation.
Loddon Shire Mayor, Cheryl McKinnon said “we are committed to enhancing the liveability and sustainability of Loddon Shire by developing a prosperous, vibrant and engaged community. This sort of attractive outdoor shared space, which makes the most of our Shire’s natural assets, is exactly the sort of project that will deliver long-term benefits to our region”.
The project has been made possible thanks to $300,000 from Regional Development Victoria and $100,000 from Loddon Shire Council.
