Get to understand the magic of your local grasslands with the Activities Weekend at Terrick Terrick National Park. Organised by Friends Of Terrick Terrick National Park, this is the 14th year the event has been held.

Jill Millsom, from the Friends Of Terrick Terrick National Park, encourages people to come along for some of the many events the weekend will bring.

“We’ve got early morning bird watching, vegetation walks in the grasslands and a fantastic list of presenters and displays,” Jill explains. “There’s so many wonderful things happening in the park, and it’s a great way to really get to know the area.”

“All of the activities leave from, or are based at, the Davies homestead site where the original European settlers to the area established their home. The original grassland paddocks remain and there is free camping overnight for those who are keen to stay the entire weekend. We’ve got good facilities with a shed offering a water heater and drinking water – and the urn is always on for anyone who fancies a cuppa.”

With the recent rains promising the chance of wildflowers and the Murray Pines Forest and picturesque granite outcrops all within easy walking distance of the homestead, there is also guided mini-coach tours of the park; a climb up Mitiamo Rock; native plant displays and more. Day visitors are welcome and BYO camping equipment if you plan to spend the night. Morning and afternoon tea is supplied and, if you’re inclined to volunteer, a working bee both mornings over the weekend helps take care of noxious weeds.

“We’re a friendly lot,” says Jill. “Come and join us, have a chat and enjoy the beauty of the area.”
