Community consultation to continue
By the end of the week Council’s municipal recovery team expects to have completed a recovery support plan that will assist residents within the Shire impacted by the recent floods.
In the meantime, individual questions and concerns can be addressed by contacting Council’s Wedderburn Office on 5494 1200.
You will be transferred to a member of the municipal recovery team who will either answer your question directly or refer you to the relevant support organisation.
With water storages nearing capacity and a wet spring predicted, residents are encouraged to keep abreast of weather warnings and are urged to seek information from a reliable source.
Tuning into ABC local radio or checking the latest alerts and emergency information at www.emergency.vic.gov.au will ensure you receive reliable, up to date information.
Road damage being assessed
In response to recent flooding, Council’s technical services department is carrying out an assessment of the Shire’s road network.
Once the assessment is complete and stretches needing attention are identified, repair work will be undertaken.
Roads which are currently closed will be reopened once they have been returned to safe condition.
In the meantime Council reminds drivers to adhere to road signage, be mindful of hazards and to adjust their driving to road and weather conditions.
Residents are also encouraged to notify Council of any roads needing attention in their locality by phoning 5494 1200.
Farm recovery advice available
The full impact of flooding on crops within Loddon Shire won’t be known for some time.
A good source of information on issues such as pasture recovery, water quality and livestock and animal health management is available at www.agriculture.vic.gov.au.
Further information is also available by contacting the Agriculture Victoria customer service centre on 136 186.
Do you want to pass the business reins over?
Small business owners considering selling their business may benefit from attending a workshop to be held at the Wedderburn Community Centre in Wilson Street next Tuesday (4 October).
Small Business Victoria, in conjunction with Loddon Shire Council, is hosting the workshop designed to maximise the value of an existing business wishing to pass over the reins.
Participants will learn how to improve the perceived value of their business in the eyes of potential buyers, and put steps in place to set new owners up for continued success.
Cost is $20 per person including a light meal and cuppa.
Bookings can be secured by phoning Sandra Steel on 5494 1257 or emailing ssteel@loddon.vic.gov.au
