2018 infant immunisation program schedule now available

Loddon Shire Council’s infant immunisation program for 2018 is now available, with sessions to be held from March through to December.
For further details on session locations and times is available from Council’s website at www.loddon.vic.gov.au .
Council’s Director Community Wellbeing Wendy Gladman said immunisation from an early age was highly recommended for all Australian children.
“Immunisation helps protect children from the most serious childhood infections, some of which may threaten their lives,” Mrs Gladman said.
“There are also particular immunisation requirements a child needs to meet in order to go to childcare, kindergarten and school.
“This includes the Victorian Government’s No Jab No Play law that requires a child to be fully immunised before that child can be enrolled in childcare or kindergarten in Victoria.
“This law applies to all early childhood education and care services in Victoria such as long day care, kindergarten, occasional care and family day care.”
Mrs Gladman encouraged parents and carers to download the VaxOnTime app, which is available for Apple and Android device users.
“This app has been developed by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and is a great tool to remind parents and carers when immunisations for their child are due,” Mrs Gladman said.
“As well as reminder notifications, among the app’s features is information about upcoming Council immunisation sessions, along with the ability to call and make an appointment.
“We think it’s a really valuable tool that will help ensure infants in the Shire receive their required immunisations,” Mrs Gladman added.
To make an appointment for an infant’s immunisation, call the Loddon Shire’s Serpentine Office on 5437 7999.
Please bring your Medicare card and Child Record Book to each immunisation session and allow 15 minutes waiting time following immunisation.
