Work to start on Janevale Bridge
Rehabilitation works to Janevale Bridge in Laanecoorie are expected to get underway this week. The rehabilitation works will involve repairing concrete spalling, minor cracks and expansion joints.
Please note, that while the works are ongoing there will be traffic management in place, which may include reduced speed limits and possible traffic delays. Bridge closures may also be required to complete necessary works. Any bridge closures will be advertised ahead of time.
The current 12-tonne load limit on the bridge will remain after the works have been completed, which is anticipated to be in September.
Nominate an Australian of the Year
The search is on once again to find the next Australian of the Year.
The National Australia Day Council is asking people to nominate inspirational Australians whose work helps to make Australia a better place.
They could be old or young, live in the city or somewhere outback. It could be a friend, a colleague or just someone whose work you've always admired.
It only takes one nomination to be in the running for one of the four Award categories – Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year (aged 65 years over), Young Australian of the Year (aged 16 to 30 years) or Australia’s Local Hero.
For more information and to nominate visit www.australianoftheyear.org.au/nominate/
Nominations must be received before the closing date 31 July 2018.
