Australia Day celebrations
I would like to congratulate our Australia Day award recipients, including Loddon Shire’s Citizen of the Year Howard Rochester and Young Citizen of the Year Jake Murphy.
I’d also like to congratulate the 8th National Tractor Trek (Wedderburn) for being awarded the Community Event of the Year, as well as recipients of the Community Service Awards (by Ward):
- Boort: Murray and Cheryl Chalmers
- Inglewood: Don Wilson
- Tarnagulla: Susan Horsley
- Terrick: Robyn Spowart
- Wedderburn: Ian Hall
Furthermore, I’d like to congratulate all of our Loddon Shire Australia Day competition winners for colouring, literature and photography.
Thank you to our community groups, guest speakers, organisers and volunteers for putting on a wonderful day.
Australian Masters Water Ski Championships
Congratulations to all the athletes and participants who made this year’s water ski championships such a fantastic success. The energy and excitement generated by this event was truly contagious, and it was a privilege to see so many talented individuals come together to showcase their skills on the water.
From the impressive tricks and jumps to the speed and grace displayed by the skiers of all levels, it was evident that this competition attracted the best of the best. I was especially impressed by the young athletes who demonstrated remarkable athleticism.
I would also like to thank the community members and organisers for their work in flood recovery to make this event possible.
Farewell John
It is with heavy heart that we say farewell to one of our members, who has made a lasting impact on our community. John Hellsten has lived in East Loddon District for 62 years and is relocating to Perth to be closer to family.
During the recent October floods, John worked tirelessly by contributing to filling up sand bags for residents and businesses in need. This spirit, kindness and generosity is a testament to the values that make our Shire a special place to live. Most will agree that John will be dearly missed – but this is not the end and we hope you enjoy your golf and lawn bowls on the west coast.
Small Business Bus Visit – Wedderburn and Inglewood
I am thrilled to announce that the Small Business Bus is making two stops in our Shire in February.
Whether you are starting, building or transforming your business, the Small Business Bus can help you to develop your business ideas and capabilities. These visits are an exciting opportunity for the community to receive expert advice from Monarch Institute one to one.
Your business advisor can help you to identify a clear direction for your business, discuss key issues and priorities, and develop a business action plan to achieve your goals. Confidential sessions are 45 minutes, free of charge and bookings are essential.
Walk-ins are also welcome on the day for our Bus Concierge service. This service provides general information about Business Victoria as well as the Planning and Starting Your Business pack.
