Road Updates

In recent months, the Loddon Shire Council (LSC) has successfully awarded seven packages of flood restoration works in response to the October floods. These packages are in addition to the extensive work undertaken by our works crews. By the end of December, LSC are aiming to deliver in the order of $6 million of restoration work under this category of funding. This work is separate to the $20 million 2023/24 restoration program which has already been endorsed by Council.

Many of you are aware of the difficulty obtaining this funding and I would like to thank the LSC staff who continue to progress this complex Federal/State funding arrangement.

Newbridge Flood Recovery Round

I am delighted to share with you the incredible success of the Flood Recovery Round, which took place last Saturday (24 June) at the restored Newbridge Recreation Reserve. The day was filled with excitement as a large crowd gathered to witness the matches between Newbridge Football Netball Club and Bears Lagoon Serpentine.

I’d like to recognise and thank all those behind the scenes who put in many volunteer hours to ensure the day ran smoothly.

I would also like to thank Dr Anne Webster MP, Federal Member for Mallee; Martha Haylett MP, Victorian Member for Ripon; Ward Councillor, Cr Linda Jungwirth; Andrew Friswell - President Newbridge Football Netball Club, Chris Lewin - President Bears Lagoon/Serpentine Football Netball Club and the members of the Newbridge Recreation Reserve Committee.

While we celebrate this milestone, it is important to recognise that some members of our community may still be facing challenges. I encourage you to reach out and utilise the available resources.

To stay informed about the latest resources and updates related to flood recovery efforts, I urge you to read the latest edition of our Flood Recovery Newsletter. You can find it https://www.loddon.vic.gov.au/For-residents/Community-Flood-Recovery

Australian Citizenship congratulations

Yesterday (27 June), I had the honour of presenting a citizenship certificate to our newest Australian citizen from Thailand Renu Pattison. Renu survived the devastating 2004 Thailand tsunami which saw her move to Australia in 2013. Renu took the Australian Citizenship Pledge with great enthusiasm during a heartfelt ceremony held at our Council Chambers.

I extend my congratulations to Renu on this significant milestone.
