Loddon Shire Mayoral Column 16 November 2023
Published on 16 November 2023
Thank you
As my Mayoral term ends and I am writing my final Mayoral Column for the year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cr Gavan Holt, Cr Neil Beattie, Cr Wendy Murphy and Cr Linda Jungwirth for their overwhelming support and collaboration throughout my time as Mayor. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the Council’s dedicated executive team for their support and guidance, including CEO Lincoln Fitzgerald.
During my term, our community faced some major challenges such as the October 2022 floods. Throughout that difficult time, what stood out for me was the strength and resilience of the community rallying together to support one another.
One of the many significant highlights was the progress on major projects including Donaldson Park Community Hub, Pyramid Hill Streetscape Revitalisation, continuation of the Bridgewater Foreshore Beautification works, recreation reserve lighting projects and more.
I’d also like to congratulate Cr Gavan Holt on his election as Mayor and look forward to working alongside him for the next mayoral term. Cr Holt has been Councillor for Wedderburn Ward since 2003 and has held the position of Mayor several times.
In closing, I would like to express my gratitude to the residents of Loddon Shire. These past couple of years have been truly rewarding, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together.
Pyramid Hill appeals for clock upgrades
It is great to shine a spotlight on Pyramid Hill’s community efforts in restoring the town’s 91- year-old historical clock. Trevor McIntosh, a member of the Pyramid Hill Historical Society, is leading the efforts to raise $7,000 through a town appeal to support the repairs of the clock.
It is fantastic to see community members actively participating and going the extra mile to support their iconic building and drive positive change for their town.
