In 2019 ten artists from nine municipalities across the Loddon Mallee region were selected to participate in the inaugural Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) Loddon Mallee Renewable Energy Art Award. Emerging and established artists across the region responded to the theme, ‘Our renewable energy future’ in a range of mediums. The resulting ten works are now touring the region as the Loddon Mallee Renewable Energy Art Exhibition.

The aim of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for artists and their communities to understand renewable energy through creative expression and explore a representation of the future that can help tackle climate change. We want people to be inspired by the art, take the time to reflect, and engage in discussions with family, friends and peers about renewable energy.

We hope the exhibit generates increased understanding and awareness of the current and future transition from fossil fuels to carbon neutral renewable energy by being presented in a different way, through these wonderful pieces of art. This initiative was commissioned by DELWP and supported by project partners - Regional Arts Victoria, Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance and the ten Loddon Mallee regional councils.
