Kooyoora State Park to reopen this long weekend
Published on 09 March 2023
The Loddon Shire Council is thrilled to receive news from Parks Victoria today that Kooyoora State Park will reopen this Friday after being closed for five months due to damage to the park and infrastructure caused by October’s flood and storm events.
Parks Victoria has indicated some roads in the park will remain closed for now, however access to the main lookout, campground and picnic area is now possible.
“We welcome this positive news from Parks Victoria” comments Loddon Shire Mayor cr. Dan Straub.
“Loddon’s incredible natural assets and tourism experiences including our waterways, parks and wildlife generate significant visitation and support our local visitor economy.
I encourage visitors to return to Kooyoora State Park and indeed all parts of the magnificent Loddon Shire this long weekend and beyond.”
In addition to the re-opening of Kooyoora State Park and Melville Caves lookout and picnic area this long weekend, visitors to Loddon Shire can also choose touring itineraries across the Loddon Valley’s unique and fascinating towns, parks and waterways.
The Wedderburn Detector Jamboree will also take place this weekend, with hundreds of visitors from across Australia descending on the goldfields town to participate in a variety of fun – and serious – gold prospecting activities.
